There is always a reason to pass up an opportunity to volunteer.  There is seldom a good reason for doing so.  If you search carefully, you will find certain characteristics that make small towns desirable places to live.  Always, one of the top 3 items is that they have community involvement on everything from school boards and village councils to arts organizations and youth sports programs.  Dexter is one of those places.

I often find myself in conversation with folks around town talking about one of the groups that I already mentioned.  I end up by saying, "You know, you should offer to take on a small project that you can handle."  Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't.  Quite often I hear back from them with a simple, "I'm glad I did that."

The next time your child comes home from practice or a game, and they're all excited about it, talking about a particular event or showing you the move they learned, ask yourself, "Can I do a little something to help?"  I'll bet you can.

Be sure to take an hour or so on February 4th to elect your next officers to the DSC and to vote on the revisions to the DSC bylaws.  We'll be meeting at 7:00PM in the lower level meeting room at the Dexter Library.  Come and check it out.  Maybe you'll find a project you'd like to help with.

Dexter Falcons Win Title in Premier League PDF Print E-mail
Monday, 02 November 2009 19:50

For their first participation in the Michigan State Premier Soccer League (MSPSL), the U13 Boys Dexter Falcons won their division's championship with an overall record of 13-1.

The Falcons also claimed the best defense allowing only 6 goals in 14 games. Led by goal keeper Rhys Moller, center backs Luke Bazick and David Innis, right back Luke Sagmeister and left back Jake Rayer, the Falcons played tough defense all season long to shut down their opponents, consistently.

The combative and creative midfielders, Peter Assenmacher, Jack Vanderkerkhove, Guy Burke, Kimi Camara, and Blake Leonard added an obvious spark to the team by helping repossess the ball when needed and feeding the strikers with golden passes.

The Falcons offense outscored their opponents with a record high of 73 goals. With Slava Yuhasz, Spencer Vollmers, Spencer Norton, Sam Ketzner, and top scorer Jake Kilian, the Falcons talented offense put out fantastic performances game after game and claimed the best offense as well.

Congratulations Dexter Falcons!

The Dexter U11 boys beat Hamburg 4 - 2 and tied Plymouth 3 - 3 in the last week of the season to capture the WSSL division 3 championship. The teams in the league were very evenly matched, but the boys played hard to pull out positive results. Nice job Red Devils!
