Code of Conduct for DSC

DSC Conduct Philosophy

The Goal of DSC is to provide competitive soccer opportunities for our youth and to develop life skills along the way. Cooperation, team work, discipline, proper decision making, honesty, loyalty, sportsmanship, and leadership are learned through a positive soccer experience.

Practices, Games, Tournaments, and other associated functions offer many opportunities for personal growth in a team setting. Coupled with these opportunities is the obligation for players to be mindful of the effects of their behavior and attitude on themselves and others. It is the responsibility of the Players, Parents, Coaches, Trainers, Refs, DSC Staff and Guests to conduct themselves in a manner which is acceptable and in compliance with the DSC mission, goals, values, and policies of the DSC Code of Conduct. This Code of Conduct is in effect at all times whether Practice Sessions, Games, Tournaments and all DSC functions on and off the field. Your conduct is a direct reflection of you, your family, the team, club, community, and game of soccer.

Players:

  • Players are expected to attend and be punctual for all soccer events including, practice sessions, games, tournaments and team events. Notify your Coach in advance of any tardiness or absence as it affects everyone not just you.
  • Players are expected to have all personal soccer gear upon their arrival to practice sessions, games and tournaments. Uniforms (regular and alternate), shoes, socks, proper additional clothing for weather conditions, properly inflated soccer ball and water bottle are all part of your gear.
  • Players are expected to conduct themselves in a manner which promotes positive, disciplined, team work, sportsmanship, and hard work. You must display the best of your ability towards your teammates, coaches, trainers, at all practice sessions, games and tournaments on and off the field.
  • Players are expected to display Good Sportsmanship at all times towards parents, players, coaches, trainers, referees, the opposing team, their staff and guests. Be generous in winning and gracious in losing. Disrespect will not be tolerated towards anyone at anytime.
  • Players are to be respectful of the playing fields and facilities by picking up after themselves and their team. Trash should be thrown away and equipment picked up.
  • Show class in your behavior and attitude and be helpful to those around you.

Parents & Guests

  • Parents make sure players are on time for practice, in attendance for all games, tournaments and picked up on time as players cannot be left alone. Notify your coach in advance of any tardiness or absences, as this will affect everyone, not just you or your player. Setting a good example and responsibility for promptness and courtesy is paramount in learning and life skills.
  • Players are expected to have all personal soccer gear upon their arrival to practice sessions, games and tournaments. Uniforms (regular and alternate), shoes, socks, proper additional clothing for weather conditions, properly inflated soccer ball and water bottle are all part of your gear.
  • Parents be kind to and support all coaches, trainers, managers, referees and staff. They are volunteers and each provide a necessary and valuable service to you, our children and the community.
  • Parents ensure each player understands that win, lose or draw, their efforts are appreciated and they must be able to do their best without fear of failure, criticism, or judgment.
  • Parents help all players enjoy the thrill of competition, personal accomplishment, and team work for competing, for trying hard, and for having fun. Everyone’s encouragement goes a long way to developing the discipline, character, and success of players, team and continued success.
  • Parents must refrain from coaching your players from the sidelines. It confuses players and undermines the coaches and trainers. By all means, encourage and cheer for our players for their efforts and accomplishments throughout the games. This is great for morale and inspires a team to do its best.
  • Parents must be respectful of all coaches, trainers, referees, players and other parents. regardless of where they are from, our team or others, regardless of the situation and whether we agree with a call or their behavior. We are role models for our children and our behavior is a direct reflection of our club and community. Swearing, threatening words and gestures, and physical or verbal abuse will NOT be tolerated regardless of circumstance. If you are experiencing a problem please let the coach know and he/she will deal with it!
  • Parents, last but not least, pat yourself on the back, because you and your support make the DSC what it is.  Because of your support our children can stay right here in Dexter to play this great game of soccer.
